The Hollywood reporter has written an article on the release of the film Skiptrace, an action comedy starring Jackie Chan and Johnny Knoxville. The film is co-financed and co-presented by Dasym Media along with Talent International Films and Shanghai New Culture Media Group.

Talent International Films produced the film together with Jacky Chan, Esmond Ren, Charlie Coker, Damien Saccani and David Gerson. The film was shot over eighty-five days across six locations in Greater China and will be released in Summer 2016.

In Skiptrace, Chan plays a Hong Kong detective who has been tracking a dangerous crime boss for more than a decade. When his goddaughter (Fan Bingbing) gets into trouble with the crime syndicate, he comes to the rescue and teams up with a fast-talking American gambler (Knoxville) on a wild adventure.

The Chinese movie industry is growing fast, but it’s difficult for foreign film producers to enter the local market because of strict regulations. For instance, each year only 34 foreign movies may be shown in cinema’s.

In order for Dasym Media to profit from the fast growing Chinese movie industry, the company has partnered with Jackie Chan, Talent International Films and Shanghai New Culture Media Group. Because the film is co-produced with a local studio and key team members and cast members are Chinese, the film is considered a domestic release. Therefore it is expected to enjoy greater access in the local market and gain a higher share of profits than imported films.
